About Us
KURA Care launched as an AI solutions provider for remote patient monitoring companies to bring actionable and contextual data to the health care market.
This was a key objective of our founder, KJ Yang, who endured his own difficult health care journey overcoming leukemia.
Founded in 2018 with an office in San Diego, CA
Our Founder's Story
KJ, our founder, brings more than two decades of experience commercializing AI products, however his most defining journey has been one of survival, resilience, and purpose. With Qualcomm’s support, he earned his PhD from UC San Diego in 2007 before joining the company, poised for a promising future. Without warning, everything changed.
Diagnosed with leukemia, KJ endured months of grueling chemotherapy, relentless fevers, and a bone marrow transplant, all while preparing to welcome his twin daughters into the world. In his darkest moments, holding onto the hope of one day holding his girls, he experienced a powerful realization. AI could fundamentally transform healthcare, not only for patients like him, but also for the families who stand beside them and the providers who care for them.
That vision became his lifeline. In 2016, KJ began his entrepreneurial journey, and in 2018, he founded KURA Care with a singular mission: to ensure no patient navigates their journey alone, and that every family receives the care and support they truly deserve.
