Our Founder's Story
KJ, our founder, brings over 20 years of experience commercializing AI products, his most profound journey being one of survival and purpose. After earning his PhD from UCSD in 2007 with Qualcomm’s support, he joined the company with a bright future ahead. Unfortunately, his world then turned upside down. Diagnosed with leukemia, he endured relentless fevers and crushing fatigue through chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, as he prepared to welcome his twin daughters into the world. In those darkest moments, clinging to the hope of holding his girls, he saw something that changed everything: the countless ways AI could transform healthcare, not just for patients like him, but for the families who love them and the providers who care for them. That vision became his lifeline. In 2016, he began his entrepreneurial journey, and in 2018 he founded KURA Care with a singular mission: to ensure no patient faces their journey alone, and that every family receives the care they truly deserve.
